FBD: Turkish Enka starts rebranding of Russian Ramstore hypermarkets

November 27 2009 - Enka, a Turkish construction and retail conglomerate, its planning to rename its  ten shopping centers Ramstore in Russia and to start the rebranding of its Russian supermarkets, operating under the same brand name, Russian media reports.

The estimated amount of investments in the project will exceed $3,45 million. Sources in Enka Russia have already confirmed the fact of renaming.


According to local analysts, Enka forced to abandon the promoted brand, due to its ownership to Turkish Koc Holding, a former Enka’s partner in commercial business, which is now independently developing Ramstore chain in Ukraine, Macedonia and Bulgaria.

Thy also said that only in re-branding Enka will have to spend at least $3,45 million. The costs for new design could exceed $500,00; while the new shop-sign nearly $1 million while another $950,000 will be spent for the renaming of 19 supermarkets. At least another $1 million will be required for an advertising campaign to promote the new brand.

Enka is engaged in construction, trade and energy. In 2008 the turnover of the company amounted to $7 billion.
