FBD: Brazil to import wheat from France

by Dan Vallada - FoodBizDaily.com Bureau Sao Paulo

October 19 2009 - Brazil is ready to accept wheat imports from France, subject to quality control and approval of plant’s sanitary certificates - stated French agricultural office FranceAgriMer.

Brazil is facing supply shortages since production decreased in Argentina, its main wheat supplier, causing imports from countries outside the Mercosur to increase. Brazil have already imported from Canada and the United States, and also bought wheat from Russia this year, after giving permission to that country.
