July 3, 2009 – The Government of India has nominated its sponsored organizations to export rice to the African countries. The Government of India has allowed export of non basmati rice only in a government-to-government basis.
The State Trading Corporation, a Government of India sponsored organization, has invited the domestic rice millers and exporters to submit their expressions of interest to the STC for export of non-basmati rice (parboiled/raw) with a minimum of 25% broken to African countries like Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, Benin, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mozambique, Togo and Zambia.
Suppliers shall have exported minimum quantity of 50,000 MT of rice to any government agency in the mentioned countries during the last five financial years (2004-05 to 2008-09).
Suppliers shall be required to offer rice on FOB (any Indian port) liner out terms as per the requirement of the buyer. Suppliers shall have the capability to supply minimum lot of 10,000 MT.
Like STC, MMTC Limited has also invited expressions of interest from the domestic rice millers and exporters to supply to nine African countries like Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt, Gambia, Mali, Somalia, Tunisia and Zanzibar.
Last date for submission of interest is July 14, 2009, it is learnt.
