Brindisa Ltd

Opportunity
Far have over 75 years of experience of charcuterie production and are located in the beautiful Garrotxa Volcanic natural park, Girona.
They are a member of the Consorcio del Jamón Serrano, the Fundación del Jamón Serrano and hold TSG certification (Traditional Speciality Guaranteed), so their ham is produced to the required standards of all these bodies. They also hold a number of internationally recognised food safety certificates, including BRC Grade A and ISO 9001/2000 IFS Higher level.
Their factories are equipped with state-of-the-art technology in order to offer a higher standard of quality, uniformity and safety, even though the basic steps of the production process are the same as they have been for centuries. The hams are selected from pig farmers in Girona and Teruel. Each piece of ham is then individually classified by size and type, thus enabling full product-traceability.
The curing facilities replicate the seasons of the year so that the hams cure under the same temperature and humidity cycles as they would do naturally, a process which directly influences the development of flavours and aromas. The hams reach their optimum maturity at 8 months.
About Brindisa Ltd
Brindisa was founded in 1988 by Monika Linton and has been steadily growing for the last 20 years.
The experience of specialising exclusively in Spanish food has taken Monika and many colleagues on a fascinating journey through Spain’s dramatic landscapes to find and get to know the products we select. Inevitably, every visit or new acquaintance brings us in touch with unforgettable things; a place, a proud producer, a skill, often a beautiful view but most importantly a flavour that we cannot resist and which can enrich our work beyond measure. Our task continues to be to bring these flavours to those here in the UK who are open to them and ready to experiment as we do. Today Monika heads a cosmopolitan team of Brindisa veterans and young faces, fulfilling a demand that has grown enormously over the last 2 decades.
Brindisa imports the most extensive range of high quality Spanish foods to Britain. Brindisa’s aim is to select interesting food from a wide selection of producers ranging from the very specialist with limited availability to larger producers with not only capacity but also a unique quality. This portfolio has something for everyone: you can find some real treasures and can fill up the store cupboard or chiller with some irresistible luxuries and some well priced essentials for Spanish and Mediterranean cooking.
Many of our supplier relationships go back to the very first days of Brindisa and over the years our acquaintance with their products and our shared respect for each others’ work has deepened. We sell these foods with great confidence and we ensure that each new supplier we take on can bring us interesting flavours, products of strong character or some much needed advantage in an ever changing marketplace. We do everything possible to ensure the integrity of the product and the producers we buy from.
We do our best to support our customers with comprehensive sales and technical information as well as training on our producers, their products, production methods and the traditional ways of using their ingredients.
The name Brindisa is derived from the Spanish word ‘brindis’, meaning ‘to raise your glass’ or ‘make a toast’ … so, a toast to excellent Spanish food and to all who care about it as much as we do!
