January 23 2012 --- The price of oranges soared to a record high Monday in early trading on speculation that Brazilian juice imports were facing a ban for using a fungicide that has been declared illegal in the United States.
The benchmark March FCOJ futures contract scaled a record peak at $2.2695 per lb, up nearly 8 percent on the day. A round of profit-taking then deflated the market and the contract was trading 6.35 cents up at $2.17 at 8:23 a.m. EST (1323 GMT).

January 23 2012 --- Swiss group Barry Callebaut is to supply Unilever, the world's third-largest consumer goods group, with 70 percent of its global cocoa and chocolate needs.
Barry Callebaut, which already makes chocolate for groups such as Hershey (HSY.N) and Nestle (NESN.VX), will invest 22 million Swiss francs ($24 million) in its global factory network to boost capacity.

January 23 2012 --- Asda Stores Ltd, the U.K.'s second-largest grocer, said Monday it would invest £500 million ($779 million) to open 25 new stores and three new depots this year, shortly after market leader Tesco PLC said it would also spend millions on a major overhaul of its business after issuing its first profit warning in 20 years.
Asda, a unit of U.S. supermarkets giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc., said the investment would create 5,000 jobs. Asda will also refurbish a further 43 U.K. stores, the company said in a statement.
