Pernod eyes global drinks market recovery
September 2 2010 - French spirits giant Pernod Ricard said it expected a good year as emerging markets, notably Asia, drive a gradual recovery in the world drinks market.
But the company's policy of not giving a detailed forecast until November and its in-line results disappointed investors, sending shares in the world's second-largest spirits group after Diageo Plc down almost 3 percent.
Chief Executive Pierre Pringuet told Reuters in a phone interview that the maker of Glenlivet whisky and anise drink Ricard Pernod will continue to boost marketing spend on its Top 14 brands to bolster consumption. It is also banking on strong cash generation to cut debt.
