February 08 2010 - Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated today announced that Alexander B. Cummings has been named to the Company’s Board of Directors.
Mr. Cummings is Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of The Coca-Cola Company. Born in Liberia, West Africa, Mr. Cummings joined The Coca-Cola Company in 1997 as Region Manager, Nigeria. In 2000, he was named President of the Company's North & West Africa Division. In March 2001, he became President and Chief Operating Officer of the Africa Group, responsible for the Company's operations in Africa, encompassing a total of 56 countries and territories across the continent.
“We are very pleased to have an individual with an extensive international background in business and community affairs join our Board, and we look forward to working with Alex,” Coca-Cola Consolidated Chairman and CEO J. Frank Harrison, III said.
Mr. Cummings replaces Carl Ware, who served on the Board for a decade. “We appreciate Carl’s dedicated service to our Company and wish him the best of luck in all his future endeavors,” said Harrison. Mr. Ware’s retirement and Mr. Cummings’ appointment will be effective March 9, 2010.
Charlotte-based Coca-Cola Consolidated is the nation’s second largest Coca-Cola bottler with franchise territories in 10 Southeastern states.
