February 05 2010 - Tander, a managing company of Magnit chain, one of Russia’s largest retail groups, plans to put into operation a new giant logistics center area with the total area of 26,5 thousand square meters in the Russian Tambov region. The volume of investments is estimated at the level of 500 million rubles (EUR 10 million).
Analysts believe that the new complex will allow Magnit to significantly reduce production costs and to increase profits.
According to sources in the local government, the total area of the new facility will amount to 26,5 thousand square meters while its official launch is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2010.
"The complex will serve 12 surrounding regions. It will be equipped with the lines for selection, sorting and packing vegetables and fruits, as well as bar coding machines", - said the source.
Oleg Goncharov, Magnit’s corporate affairs director, has already confirmed these reports, but declined to specify the exact date of the facility’s launch.
Tander was established in Krasnodar in 1994. It manages the "Magnit" chain which is comprised of about 3,2 thousand outlets and more than 20 hypermarkets. The company has its own logistics network of nine distribution centers with a total area of over 180 thousand square meters.
