January 26 2010 - Metro Group, one of the world’s largest retail groups, has officially opened its new representative office in Berlin, according to German media reports.
With the new office, the retail group plans to extend its dialogue with the government and parliament, as well as relevant stakeholders groups.
"A transparent and ongoing cooperation and a dialogue without prejudice are more important for the company today than ever before," says Dr. Eckhard Cordes, CEO of Metro.
According to him, many challenges of our day, such as the consequences of the economic and financial crisis, require a new responsible partnership between the government and industry.
He also added that currently Metro Group is a real force field in the German economy. In its home market alone it has a workforce of about 120,000 people and generates around EUR 27 billion in sales.
Metro has already operated representative offices in Moscow, Brussels, Warsaw, Bucharest and Istanbul.
